Le Goût du Safran

A once-in-a-lifetime journey that fundamentally changes who you are, at your core. An invitation through Europe and your senses: the smell of saffron at the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul, feeling young again during a night in Budapest, rhythmed by new faces and experiences.

Wien

September 24. A decision that left me with dreams to fulfill and one question: what’s my deepest desire now that I am free ?

The solution popped up immediately. A travel. No destination in mind for a week until I remember those people who brought knowledge from the Orient.

The choice was made trickier with several stops across European capitals. Not the ones like Paris or Berlin. The ones more discrete, not spoken about at every dinner conversation. The ones that require time to be discovered, felt, and experienced.

Budapest

Inspired by the 200+ museums of Vienna and the sleepless nights of youngsters from every corner of the old continent, I’ve been further in Eastern Europe.

With little knowledge of this country and its culture, I was eager to know why this city attracts waves of travelers. Why its culture is so tied to religions and influenced by war of civilizations.

The golden door

End of Europe’s frontiers moved me internally. Tiredness from all-night-long parties? Maybe. Endless days walking to discover Europe’s beauty? Probably.

Reaching a new continent, a new city with millennia of stories, my body felt enthusiastic to live what this eastern / western culture had to offer. From earthy notes of Sarap to notes of violin in Hans, my only desire was to live to the fullest.

The golden door

Mesmerized? Surprised? Reenergized? I lacked words to describe that emotion. A mix of excitement, curiosity, and unconscious internal change.

Bright days walking across history with architecture from the Byzantine Age while looking at fishermen enjoying the hunt. To a dance between Europe and Asia with boats.
